Breaking: Cultists on rampage,15 feared dead in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT – About fifteen persons were killed by suspected cultists in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba Egbema Ndoni local government area on Friday night. Community sources who did not want their names in print said some of those killed were beheaded by the assailants. They said the suspected cultists who were heavily armed struck in the community between the hours of 8pm till about 10pm unchallenged. The Federal Government has sacked all the vice chancellors of 12 federal universities that were established by the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. He is not the first food seller seen wearing a suit to sell his goods. In 2015, BBC published a photo of Daniel Nartey (right) who wears suits to hawk fruits in Accra, Ghana. He told the correspondent that he started wearing suit to sell watermelon after he was told by his pastor to dress well no matter the job you do.

Suicide Bombers Kill 30 In Borno State

About 30 people have been killed when two female suicide bombers attacked an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Borno State on Tuesday, the Chairman of Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Satomi, has said. Satomi explained 78 persons were injured in the attack, which occurred at the camp in Dikwa at about 6.30am on Tuesday. But AP quoting some unnamed officials said that at least 56 people were killed in the attack. Dikwa is about 90 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and was recently reclaimed from Boko Haram fighters by Nigerian soldiers. Over 70,000 displaced persons are being housed in IDP camps in the town. He said the two female bombers stormed the IDPs camp in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State at about 6.30 am on Tuesday, blew up themselves in the midst of the crowd of displaced persons, killing over 30 persons and injuring 78 others in the process.

Dr Irene Damola burnt to death

A retired radiologist and the eldest child of late Ologbosere of Warri Kingdom, Chief O. N. Rewane, was yesterday burnt to death in an early morning fire in Lagos. rewaneThe cause of the fire that killed the 75-year-old Dr. Irene Damola (nee Rewane) at her 5, Tola Adewunmi Street, Maryland, Lagos residence, could not be ascertained at press time. Vanguard gathered that the fire started from her bedroom in the duplex occupied by her and a domestic staff. Eyewitnesses said smoke was noticed upstairs at midnight, following which security men raised alarm. Efforts by the private guards in the street to put out the fire failed. Eyewitnesses said: “Some people even attempted to move in to rescue Dr. Damola, but the entrance door was locked.
